I don't see where anyone is upset with the notion that Columbus is being wronged. The issue is another group of "leaders" deciding historical works of art are somehow too offensive to display. The 12 murals were meant to encourage immigrant Catholics during a period of anti-Catholic sentiment.  Shouldn't we all be more inclusive of immigrants (sarcasm)? In any case, attempting to erase history doesn't fix stupid or peoples ability to be divisive.

The idea that Columbus' life offers a message of encouragement to virtue, for a Catholic or an Italian or any other group, was wrong in the 1500s, wrong in the 1900 when these murals were made, and wrong now.  The problem is that some folks in the 1900s decided to write and believe highly selective histories about the man.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.
