Because those of us who feel that way, feel that no matter when we select a QB (even at #3) those QBs carry far too much risk for the value and taking them in the first round isn't going to guarantee their chances of success are any better.

 

I expect us to have to draft another QB in hopes of finding a franchise QB in the next couple years anyway.  I just don't expect one from this crop to "make it" by then.

 

I see it alot like the Leftwich draft.  If we take one, we can't shy away from taking another next year if we have a Roethlisberger fall in our laps.  That QB could end up being the solution, and not the one we take now.
