Who is QB Tom Savage?

If you are looking for a hidden gem of a quarterback, maybe you take a look at Tulsa' Cody Green?
Many fans and NFL scouts laid eyes on Virginia Tech QB Logan Thomas and he's stirring up a lot of interest. Well? Why not Cody Green? He transfered to Tulsa from Nebraska relating to playing time. He led the Golden Hurricane to a Conference USA title and a Liberty Bowl win over Iowa State in 2012. Green drew attention. His size (6-4, 247 Lbs.) and quarterback talent are unmistakably that of the prototypical NFL drop-back quarterback. Green was one of the few college quarterbacks that ran a pro-set offense, and appears to thrive under center. He demonstrates poise, awareness, reads, pocket mobility, tactical ability, and has a degree of spontaneous genius. He has frequently demonstrated he has the ability to pull victory from the jaws of defeat. He has appreciable arm talent. He makes NFL throws in tight spaces, and he has nice touch. He can complete passes on the run, he can scramble to secondary launch points, and has the size and leg power that an NFL passer relies upon to extend plays. Above all, he's a naturally talented quarterback that has some post-season production to his credit. For what it's worth, entering this season Cody Green even had some folks warming up to his game. For example, the Steelers' Bleacher Report guy gave some value to Cody Green after he made a good impression in 2012, suggesting at the start of the 2013 season that the Steelers' might consider using a fourth round pick to secure Green in the 2014 NFL draft. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/16887...ons/page/5 Green sat out the 2011 season after transferring from Nebraska. He was named Honorable Mention All-Conference USA in 2012 and could have a better chance than Jones of winning the No. 2 quarterback spot behind Roethlisberger. Tulsa lost a number of players early this season, including Keyarris Garrett, Tulsa's most prolific wide receiver and one of Green's key targets. Unless mistaken, Garrett was lost in Tulsa's 30-27 victory over Colorado State. http://youtu.be/MCRCwAsTRO0 There's a lot more Tulsa video on you tube where you can evaluate Green. It should be stated that the last time I was able to see Green play this season he was slapping himself on the sides of his helmet after being benched by Tulsa coach Bill Blankenship. Coach Blankenship pulled Green apparently figuring he was ineffective. The back-up inserted into the game was not able to perform any better than Cody Green. Details are not knowable, but one thing that was clear was a continuation of the exact same problems that befuddled Cody Green hit his back-up as well. It's possible that responsibility rested on the shoulders of both Tulsa QBs, but It looked a lot like Tulsa was unable to surround either quarterback with much talent. Green took the shocking replacement move in stride. Other than smacking himself in the earholes, He never threw his helmet or kicked over the juice bucket. While viewing the television coverage, as Cody was benched, it was impossible to not feel a strong sense of disappointment for Green. There did appear to be some sort of revelation that Green was playing hurt in the news as Tulsa's season went on, but exactly what was happening leading into Blankenship's decision to de-stabilize the quarterback position at Tulsa would have to be determined. The change didn't work out too well, and what actually happened should be checked out as it would be a shame to disregard Green based on a poor season for the entire Tulsa team. It would be nice to see Cody Green have a NFL Combine invite. I really hope he gets one. Otherwise, I have a Tulsa Pro Day date of March 14th, 2014 to pass along. You can bet their heads are hanging low. When Garrett went down, it was a loss that isn't so easy to fill. Scouts might even get to see NCAA superstar former-walk-on RB Trey Watts. If you like VT's Logan Thomas or your hidden gem Savage, maybe you might like Cody Green also?
