The merits of drafting TE in the first

Man I hope we take Hockenson

OT, TE, WR, then BAP S/DL/QB after that.

While this makes the most sense from a needs perspective, I can't help but shake the feeling that Hockenson is simply a flat out much better player than Taylor. I hated watching Gene Smith fail time and time again by reaching in round one to fill a need over better players. Getting Hockenson would give us an immediate impact starter who just might quickly develop into the league's next Zach Ertz with Foles throwing to him. Moreover, he projects to step in as a dominant, polished run blocker as a rookie, and that would help to feed the Jaguars run-first identity. Provided we can still get one of those other two RTs in round two, both of whom project to start, I feel like the team would be better off overall.

That said, should the team pass on Hockenson in round one, it's hard to say when we address the TE spot. If that's the case we're surely going Taylor at RT round one unless they surprise and go WR with a Marquise Brown or DK Metcalf, although all of these names might still be there after a small trade down. Hockenson, on the other hand, is likely going top 10 so we'd either have to take him at #7 or else probably go another season without a true stud at the TE spot (unless perhaps we trade down get Fant)

TE is just as much of a need as RT is imo
