What law dictates he must release his individual returns? There is nothing. What is anyone that is screaming for his individual returns going to gain? The answer again is nothing. It's all just an attempt at undermining and attempting to perhaps embarrass him. Every time I see someone still clamering for his personal tax return I'm reminded at how ignorant some folks are to the process and what information is/is not available on those returns. I'm also reminded that people appear completely unaware that the President and Vice President are the only U.S. citizens to have their individual tax returns automatically audited by the IRS each year they hold the position. It's been apart of the tax code since Watergate. You can review IRM 3.28.3.2, 4.2.1.11, and 4.8.4.2 at a minimum. 

If (BIG IF) a court rules that the IRS must give Congress the six years requested, then it is only fair that there also be a request for the returns of each President since watergate to include each of the years they were in the position. If we went down this legal path, It could be argued that if they are still receiving government pay for the position (pension) then they should be subject to continued audits. No President or candidate has ever released six years worth with exception to Bob Dole (30 years) and Gerald Ford (no release).

I would certainly be more curious as to how one nearly always becomes a multimillionaire in public service than question the IRS's ability to audit a sitting President/billionaire businessman's individual tax returns. If House Dems truly wanted oversight they would be making contact with the IRS Commissioner and Inspector General about their processes, not targeting an individual.
