Honestly, I think they took him in the 3rd because we don't have a 4th and he felt he would be selected in the 4th by teams that had him in for a visit. So was it a reach? Caldwell admitted as much. But it was the end of the 3rd and it sounds like they were ready to take him in the 4th, and possibly along with other teams, so it might not be as big of a reach as it seems.

Wow.  Didn't Gene Smith say the exact same thing, almost word for word?  How about using a third round pick on someone worthy of a third round pick?
