1010XL played audio this morning from someone in the SF front office.  I didn't catch who it was unfortunately, but to say there was no demand is complete garbage.  They were looking at him and said he ended up in the perfect place.  There was another report that indicated another team was looking at him in the 4th round as a potential pick.  Odds are that's why the Jags drafted the kid.  If you have watched a minute of film on him, you'd see the potential there.  In the right system, he could develop into something pretty special.  

I enjoy reading armchair GM commentary on how the Jags overpaid the guy.  He was a late 3rd rounder.  How much is the check you're stroking going to cost you for his services?  I'm assuming it's costing you something since you're so concerned about ovepaying.

I'm sure it's easy for you to call the picks from the comfort of your couch.  And since you and Andrew Jerimiah didn't have any analysis on the guy, that means nobody (except for NFL GMs, Scouts, and ESPN) thought he was worth consideration, right?  If the team ends up getting a stud with that pick, I'm sure you'll be mute on the subject.  In the meantime I recommend looking up film on him because the guy is a thumper.

If the fron office made a habit of drafting small school guys, maybe I'd get it.  The don't.  Gene Smith has been gone for several years.  So, if this front office, and the scouts actually found this guy and saw something worth offering up a late 3rd for, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.  But, I don't fancy myself a personnell expert sitting on a couch in my mom's basementt, so maybe you see it differently.

Seriously, is it impossible to just show a little patience to see what this kid has to offer in OTAs, camp, or the preseason  before we determine we overspent on him?  Too much to ask for?  Especially since this front office has shown great aptitude for identifying talent in the middle rounds.  Maybe they might know something you don't about this kid?
