Four Up, Four Down 2019

Downers

Holdout - I really hope this doesn’t derail Yannick’s season and/or career. Sometimes guys get caught up in the business side of things and stuff gets sour. I hope he has 18 sacks this year.

LB - Myles Jack is the man, but he needs his running mate Telvin Smith beside him. Ryan had a set back and that hurts us at LB. I hope we did our homework on QWilliams, bc were gonna need him to step up big time.

WR - even without reading that article that the Jaguars have the worst WR group in the league, WE ALL knew this deep down. Westbrook is our best WR but he is not a WR1. Pryor can be that guy in the red zone but we’re lacking at this position. Despite having the only 2 WRs to post 1,000 yards receiving in a season other than Jimmy Smith.

FS - Our CBs can camouflage this some but I hope whoever wins the job can be like a Sammy Knight or a Deon Grant type of player. Just do your job and let the other guys fly around and make plays. Don’t get beat deep.

Note - I’m excited to see what Armstead can do in Yeldon’s place behind Fournette.

Since this is a popular choice for concern in this and other threads, I thought I'd mention that I've been getting a strong vibe from Marrone and Wash that these safeties will be used interchangeably. Wash started beating the drum months ago and Marrone echoed those hints recently.

I think we'll see less use of the single high safety and more use of a Cover 4/Quarters sets on passing downs.  This allows the corners to play man concepts while the safeties play zone concepts that have some versatility.

Oehser was asked about this recently and he thought it was indeed a possibility and Prisco was saying the same thing yesterday on the radio.

I think this adjustment is going to give Harrison (and Wilson) more opportunities to jump routes - especially when the pass rush influences the QB's timing.
