I was at work the day of the inauguration. I put one of the network streams on my computer and listened to it in the background, to see if anything unexpected happened. Later while I was getting lunch I saw one of the TVs hanging up on the wall at the restaurant showing Obama and Trump walking together and then going their separate ways with their separate military escorts. I'm not disappointed that he is President. Other countries have had worse Presidents, and recently too. The Philippines and Venezuela are two obvious examples.
My disappointment rests on the Republicans in Congress, who, could have put Trump in his place and replaced him with someone who sees politics as more than trolling people on Twitter.
My second child was born in 2016. but it was until late 2017 when I realized that the Republicans really weren't going to dispose of Trump, and I realize that I really wasn't going to be able to tell them that the president of the United States sets an example of behavior and dignity for all of us to follow.
But if you think that this revelation had me ranting in the streets you're wrong. I just sulked for a day or so and moved on.
