No, what I saw when I was watching the replay on Sunday was that his hand came forward without the ball, because the ball was loose.  His hand then retracts to regain control of the ball, and by that time, he was stopped.  He never extended the ball.

I'll take your word for it. 

I rewatched it on gamepass and didn't see it, but it's entirely possible.
