They've been taught to believe that Hong Kong is a lawless and  disorderly place full of greedy bankers and hoodlums.

If you assume that the protesters in Hong Kong are pure and good, while the protesters in Ferguson, or even Gaza, are entirely bad, you too might have fallen victim to propaganda.

True. I haven’t read a whole lot on the subject. But from my understanding, a lot of of mainland China’s argument against this sort of subject is based on the fact that other countries had come in a divided up some city/states in the country into sections that are semi autonomous from the mainland government. Which I guess adds a division that bleeds through more than just the economy but also into the culture and people. This is just what I have taken from this.
