Given that we're likely gonna spend a high draft pick on a TE in the draft or we may be competing in free agency for Hooper's services anyway, I'd probably offer a 2nd rounder to get him, as long as he agrees to a new contract as part of the deal.

I think 2nd rounder is too high.  I'd maybe go 3rd rounder, but since he is going to be a free agent, the Falcons may be a little more desperate to move him, so I'd start by offering a 4th rounder.

But as has been said already in this thread, it's hard to see why the Falcons would trade away a 24 year old player who looks like he might make the Pro Bowl this year.

Agree totally with this. First of all, Oliver may turn out to be a good tight end. Secondly, although the draft class doesn't look great at tight end, some guys will emerge as the season goes on. The key, as always, is good scouting. Every draft there are tight ends who don't get drafted until the 3rd round or later who turn out to be very good. They just need to find that guy rather than give up a high draft pick in a trade.
