I don't think it was "game plan" so much as it was personnel.  The Saints have great players on defense.   Plus, what made things a lot easier for them on the back end was our lack of a TE.

Minshew and Flip both credited the saints game plan to keep him between the tackles.  It was planned and executed.
Many defenses we face won't have the personnel to pull it off though.  Maybe that's what you meant here. 

There are ways to beat that plan - especially if the opponent has a weakness or two in it's secondary or can't continually stop the run. DeFilippo has undoubtedly earmarked pages of his playbook should an opponent be able to keep Minshew from doing his thing outside the tackle box to find an open guy.
