Great quarterbacks are qualified by just two things:

 

1]Their ability to hand the ball off

 

2]Their ability to throw for a first down once in a while

 

That's it.

 

When you find a quarterback that can do those two things good, you have a quarterback capable of great play.

 

Next you need to have the ability to run the football. If you can't run the football at will, you can't control the clock, you can't keep the opposing team off the field, and you can't get a first down. Running the football is key to winning football games played at the highest level of competition.

 

The final thing you need to do is play solid defense. You don't have to dominate the opponent. Stalling drives short of scoring points works just fine.
