I think the coaches believe they need to win now in order to save their jobs. They could play the young kid who also gives them a chance to win (went 4-4 as a starter) but it would also allow Gardner the chance to develop. I completely agree with this take. If Marrone isn't coaching for his job, Minshew is taking the snaps.
