But other teams do it to us with success all the time so it must work.

It's one of those things that is common in most offenses but people zero in on it when the offense struggles.
No one complains about the WR screens when they are rattling of 11-15 yards repeatedly.  As soon as two of them are defended well though - "Stop these stupid screens!!! Rip that page from the playbook!!!" 

While the patriots alter their gameplans tremendously at times according to opponent, I've watched plenty of games wherein Brady threw short of the sticks very frequently.  Given the Jags protection issues up front, I'd expect we'll continue to see plenty of those routes to help Foles get the ball out quickly and I don't have a problem with it. 
Westbrook, Chark, Cole and Conley have all shown ability to generate YAC pretty consistently in those situations but sometimes the defense is just going to win on those plays.
