Get the big uglies early.

If Young, Thomas, Wirfs and Brown are off the boards, you gotta go BAP. You can't always draft for need. We had a big need at TE last year, but when Allen fell to us, we had to take him. He was the best value. Maybe DE wasn't an immediate need at the time, but it could be addressed. If that situation comes around again and this time it is WR that is the BAP, we gotta take WR. You never wanna reach.

I do think this corps would be put over the top by an early receiver pick. 
But I do not think it is a wise move if a similar upgrade is available at LT and I rank the position below several others in terms of need.  (OL, NT, LB, CB) 

I'd not take a WR before the 3rd round as things stand and more likely the 4th.

I agree, but I don't see Thomas or Wirfs still on the board when we pick. The same goes for Derrick Brown or Jeff Okudah and there simply isn't a LB worthy of that high a pick.
