The talent Caldwell brought in is actually pretty decent. It's just that we haven't been able to keep the best player in each draft from 2014-16.
In 2014, the best player in our draft was Robinson
In 2015, our best player were Fowler and Yeldon
In 2016, Ramsey and (maybe) Ngokue
