If so why would the Jaguars pick Luke Joke if the position was already solidified. I guess it would be bad front office even then because if you have a 1st round OT that is performing up to standards, you don't go and pick someone in the same position, the smart thing would have been to trade back and gain more picks that way. Keep the players that we draft and are producing (which we are still not doing) instead of using them on rookie deals and try to get rid of them before we have to pay them, it wasn't working then and it still is not working. Doing that would allow us to solidify the other positions we were weak at

Overall I'm saying neither Monroe nor Luke Joke worked out and gave us the production that we got from Boselli. When we are weak at the a lot of other positions, I don't think the risk would be worth it this year

Yes, Monroe was worth the pick, the idea that he had to measure up against an all time great isn't realistic. He was an upper echelon left tackle for a few years and we haven't been able to replace him in four seasons of trying. For whatever reason the FO wanted a clean sweep of the Gene Smith Error and got rid of the productive players along with the chaff (see also Smith, Daryl). As a reminder, the Joke pick was widely applauded for the value of getting the next Joe Thomas-caliber guy to play Right Tackle (see BCC Article), though they never really tried to make that work. I still think that they didn't see Monroe as a good fit for the style they wanted to play, too much finesse and not enough power. As a result we ended up with a bad player pushing a good player off the team. Joke was a bust, but the team is still batting .666 on 1st round left tackles. Of course each one was selected by a different GM, so Caldwell is technically Oh for One, but there's no way to justify your statement that "every time we do this it never plays out right." If the best player on the board at #9 is a left tackle then by all means they should take him.
I hear what you are saying but Daryl Smith was old, was still a terrible decision to let him go but I figured that would be the reason for that. I just feel like if the production was really that good for Monroe, they would tried to resign him or try get something more for him. He may have played well but I like the overall feeling was that he wasn't worth where he was picked based on what we got.

With Ramsey, even tho he left we know he was 100% worth where he was picked. You see the difference between the 2, one is for sure one is questionable.

Aside from all that it comes down to me saying, that this year based on all of the weak points on our team it wouldn't make sense when we have a better chance of shoring up another position because of the talent available and based on us not being able to make good picks on offensive linemen overall. Even in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, it would be better for us to go for a different position
