2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia
|
Quote:This isn't politics. It's history. Most people would agree with me that if you want to judge the Soviet Union, 90% of it would be negative, and justifiably so. But you have to give those people credit for the way they fought the Nazis. The biggest battles of WWII were fought on Soviet soil, and most of the casualties were Soviet soldiers and citizens. I was just trying to make sure we don't turn it into something bad. Yes, I know it is history. I also know the USSR was our enemy after the war was over and still is today as a smaller Russia, so you can put me in the "most people" category. Had anybody on this board ever heard of Sochi before learning it is the location of the 2014 Winter Olympics? I did not and am wondering why not Moscow. |
