So, devil's advocate here, and something I've considered the past couple days as we jettison defensive players.
It's not like this defense was carrying us any more. If they like what they have in Minshew and believe Gruden can create a strong offense...why not just dump it all on the offense and try to win that way? Lots of teams build this way...including the Super Bowl champs. You can get away with a good enough defense these days. You just need a couple key plays here and there. I'm not saying Minshew is Mahomes by any stretch. It was just something I had begun to consider as a philosophy. |
