I loved Bortles. His personality, his "can't knock me down" attitude. His toughness.
I even defended him beyond 2017 when people thought we should upgrade with Lamar Jackson etc.

But his game was one of ups and downs, and his lows out numbered his highs by a wide margin.
He was the best we had had in a long while. And was miles ahead of guys like Gabbert and Kessler and McCown and Henne....

But he most certainly WAS awful sometimes. Just putrid. Sometimes right after having a 300+yard 3+TD game....
Pointing out the reality of who he was/is as a QB isn't hate.

Same way pointing out that Leftwich had a canon and was a smart QB that couldn't stay healthy enough to do anything of value isn't hate.
Or that Garrard was a good QB who, much like Bortles, had a habit of throwing bone headed INTs that would absolutely cost us games isn't hate.
It's called criticism which has been well earned. And people like myself who defended Bortles until they were blue in the face and pretty much until he was no longer rostered have earned the right to criticize the dude. And the people who called it after year 3 have the right to say "I told you so".
