Watching Minshew games, I see the same poor game plans and coaching but he didn't play as great as the in season excitement made it feel. Now that said he has the appearance of a higher ceiling with good instincts compared to other QBs we have been saddled with in our days.

This was my take on Minshew as well. He had some stretches where he looked really good but I think the overall assessment of his play is biased by his "wow" moments of which there were a few. But there were times he struggled too especially after O'Shaughnessy went down. We'll have to not lose sight of the fact that he *was* a rookie and see how he progresses this coming season.

On the topic of another Jags QB, I'm watching some of the replays as well and I'm reminded that David Garrard was a much better QB then he's usually given credit for. He was never an all-star but he was usually very good despite being handicapped by some attrocious wide receiver groups.

Yes, Del Rio's penchant for big, lumbering receivers really did Garrard and Leftwich no favors. Wilford and Williams were scrappy blockers, but Wilford should have been converted to a move tight end and Williams should've just been a WR3/red-zone specialist or brought in on run-heavy packages. Mattloaf should've never been drafted, but his addiction issues and alligator arms were not known at draft time.
