The NFL has become such a niche business that few players excel in these kind of hybrid roles. In a lot of cases, you are better off getting a guy who is great at one thing as opposed to really good at many things. But on paper Simmons looks like he could be one of those outlier types that is so talented he could be be a legit safety and a legit LB at a high quality level. And if you have a creative enough defense mind (which we may or may not have), then he could be a special player for us. I think of a guy like Polamalu who was a great safety but made so many plays along the line of scrimmage.
