I disagree that he would have been on the hot seat already.  The owner isn't going to be as quick to pull the trigger on firing a coach at this point as he was with Mularkey.  So, even if the team had gone 0-16, Gus would still be very secure in his position. 

 

As I said before, Gus is linked to Caldwell.  If one goes, so does the other.  I don't see that being even a remote possibility.
