The draft season is one of the most fun times of the year, and grading the draft is also fun, with the proviso that what we're really grading is whether the team picked the players we wanted.  For some of you, a little more self-awareness would be warranted.  Or putting it in a more positive way- some of you have an enviable amount of self-confidence.  

Here's the way I look at it:  

I like the way we spend our first round picks on highly rated players at premium positions that also filled a need.  

I also like the fact that we apparently focused a lot on character.  Let's face it, we've had a lot of problems with knuckleheads and me-me-me guys.  All the guys we drafted are high-character, hard-working, team-oriented players.  

My two favorite picks are Chaisson and Hamilton.  Chaisson because you can never have too many pass rushers and from what I have seen and heard, he is tremendously talented.  Chad Reuter said, "Chaisson at 20 is a steal. He has the elite bend, length, get-off and strength to be a sack-master for the Jags. Getting the draft's second-best edge rusher at No. 20 does not happen very often."  Chaisson is my most favorite pick.  

I liked the Hamilton pick because we had a very dire need to stop the run, and from all reports, he was the second best run stuffing DT available.  We were 4-4 last year, and we then lost 5 straight games, mostly because we could not stop the run at all.  It was really horrible.  

My least favorite picks are Chenault and Bartch.  Chenault is an interesting pick, but he's going to need some coaching on how to play WR.  It's not his fault, but Colorado lined him up at so many different positions that he never had a chance to focus on the finer points of WR. 

Bartch is division III player, and that's a huge jump up to the NFL.  I don't think Bartch will be ready to play for some time.  

I think we looked for diamonds in the rough late in the draft, and we might have found one in Tyler Davis.  But how should I know?  All these players look great on highlight tapes.  

Overall, I give our draft an A+.  Why not?   We won't know for at least 3 years whether this was a good or bad draft, so any grade is as good as another.
