9. CJ Henderson CB - Becton, Wirfs, Wills, Ruggs, Jeudey, Lamb all better prospects than Henderson. You honestly can't say that Henderson was the 9th best player here. The scariest part is Dave said he was prepared to take Chassion at 9 if CJ wasn't there. Should have traded with the Jets and if the Falcons got to 10, just select Becton/Wirfs/Wills.
GRADE C+
20. K'lavon Chassion DE - Can't fault Dave here. It was widely discussed predraft that this was no man's land. In our board mock draft I picked Chassion as his upside was worth the risk considering who was left on the board. Chassion is an athletic freak who turns 21 in July
GRADE A-
42. Laviska Shenault WR- My favorite pick up the draft by far. I think if Chassion was gone at 20, Shenault would have been the pick. Kick return, punt return, out of the backfield (eliminating the need for a third down back), wildcat, basically can line up at every skill position on offense. Top15 pick in most draft years
GRADE A+
73. Davon Hamilton NT- Really boring pick but this was where Hamilton was slotted to go. We needed a true NT and Hamilton/Brown were the only impactful NTs in the draft. Hamilton will be a fixture of our run defense going forward.
GRADE B+
116 Ben Bartch LG- Here's where we start going absolutely downhill in the draft. This pick, I don't get. They missed on the mauler RGs right before this pick and proceeded to pick a project LG. Should have moved up here and got one of those RGs. This guy is two years away from starting but at least we have a replacement for Norwell.
GRADE C
137. Josiah Scott NB Apparently once we hit the fourth round we gave up on potential starters and started going after role players. With this pick they took a nickel back and not even the best one on the board
GRADE D-
140. Shaquille Quarterman ILB Moving to a 3 4, need depth at ILB, except they took Quarterman two rounds too early. Probably going undrafted.
GRADE F
157. Daniel Thomas SS With potential starters still on the board we go ahead and draft an undrafted player yet again. This is a special teams draft pick all the way. Have to make sure the special teams is top shelf for next season
Grade F
165. Colin Johnson WR We had this guy on our roster already as an undrafted (Allan Lazzard) but somehow we didn't keep him on the active roster so he's a Packer. Johnson will be an immediate red zone threat and easily our best third day pick.
GRADE B
189 Jake Luton QB- At this point in the draft we should be targeting role players and spending flyers on QBs. I'm in that camp of always drafting a QB so I applaud this pick even though Dave is 0 for 2 on big bodied QBs.
Grade B+
206. Tyler Davis TE- Admittedly so, I know nothing about this player. Considering Eifert, Oliver, and O'shaughnessy are ahead of him in the death shart, I don't see him hitting the playing field. Obvious practice squad candidate.
GRADE F
223. Chris Claybrooks NB- I understand the depth at defensive back but this seems a bit excessive. Unless they plan on trading or releasing Hayden, this is yet another puzzling pick. We selected a nickel in the fourth, why another? As it stands, we drafted a starting CB, two nickels, and a backup FS/SS in class where the secondary was the strong suit. I guess Herdon/Hayden are battling for number2? It's a bit confusing to me what the plan is with the secondary.
