Why is lying to the FBI a "trap" when Flynn and everyone else on the planet knows that lying in an FBI interview is a crime? It's the same crime that sent Martha Stewart, and probably lots of other people, to jail.

And the second question is, why did he lie? He lied about talking to the Russian ambassador several times, and he lied about his lobbying work for Turkey. Why did he lie about those things?

In his guilty plea, Flynn said, “I recognize that the actions I acknowledged in court today were wrong, and, through my faith in God, I am working to set things right. My guilty plea and agreement to cooperate with the Special Counsel’s Office reflect a decision I made in the best interests of my family and of our country. I accept full responsibility for my actions.” Why has he now changed his mind?

He also testified in 2018 that he knew it was a crime when he lied to the FBI. Has he changed his mind?

Lying to the FBI is a crime. Everybody knows that. Flynn has admitted he told several lies in his FBI interview, and he says he knew at the time he told those lies that he knew he was lying and he knew that lying to the FBI is a crime. He also pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI and said he accepted full responsibility.

So now the question becomes, why is Trump and his administration reversing course on Flynn's crimes? Obviously, the idea that Flynn was railroaded buttresses this conspiracy theory about the attempted overthrow of a duly elected President.

It's a trap because the questions asked were asked purely to catch him in a wrong answer. It was a trap because he was assured that he didn't need an attorney. The FBI had a recording of the phone conversation and nothing in it was illegal or even unethical. There was no need to ask him about it other than to trap him. And lying to the FBI is a only crime if it makes a material difference. This was about a phone conversation a month earlier, and he no doubt participated in many phone conversations around that time. Do you remember what you said in every phone conversation you made a month or more ago? Misremembering details is not lying. Also, the notes made at the time by the FBI were changed at least twice afterwards.

As far as him admitting anything, he did it to protect his son. The highlighted text makes that clear. Note that in your quote he never stated that he lied, or even used that word or a synonym. He claimed what he did was "wrong." And IMO agreeing to "help" the FBI investigation was wrong in the sense that it was stupid that he trusted the FBI, so his statement admits nothing criminal. By ruining him for a few statements that didn't agree with the recording they already had the FBI should never again expect cooperation from anyone. They burned that bridge, and all they got out of it was to ruin the life of a decorated former soldier.

Trump "reversed course" after evidence came out that the notes were changed. It is a matter of justice. There is plenty of other evidence that the Obama administration and his deep state allies attempted to overthrow a duly elected president. The vendetta against Flynn just shows how low they were willing to go to get anyone even remotely associated with Trump. Or do you not remember the government assault team showing up at Manafort's home in the wee hours of the morning and frightening his family?

Do you really support Stasi-like actions of the government?
