It's not city that makes players want to run away because we allow them to live normal lives and not smother them but instead, we show them respect and class as professional athletes. Its the organization failure and the way they do things because they settle for mediocrity instead of trying to strive for greatness as an NFL franchise. Just want to say that I really, really, really don’t dig the “held like a slave” hyperbole. Not faulting you as a poster, but just the general idea of millionaire athletes comparing themselves to slaves. It is seriously so dismissive of what that lifestyle was. Being a slave wasn’t just “oh there’s an element of my life that’s out of my control” or “I feel I’m more valuable than what I’m being compensated for.” It was 95% of the elements being out of your control, and not being compensated at all. And not having the freedom to just choose a different situation. No one is forcing these people to play sports for a living. Slaves were forced to be slaves (and not make millions upon millions of dollars before age 30). |
