What is the future of policing?

Not sure how many you watched but cops were showing up head to toe in gear to meet with peaceful protestors (again an escalation tactic). I can’t speak about every instance because that would take all day. Showing up in riot get isn’t the police escalating it. It’s a response to behavior. These cities didn’t pull out the riot gear until everything went to [BLEEP]. Sure, they showed up a few times when it wasn’t needed, but you can’t show up with riot gear AFTER the riot. You can’t find a job that requires perfection. You’re never going to get it, either. This isn't a job where you have a pilot sitting in a $100 million jet that took hundreds of engineers years to design. What’s the acceptable amount of errors a cop can make before they’re fired? The errors they make seem so personal, and people are outraged because they know how they’d feel if it happened to them, but this idea where perfection (or even close to it) is expected is unachievable. |
