I've changed my mind on a message board many times.
If you find someone who actually knows a fact you don't, or shares a life experience that is foreign to you, it should change your mind, if only a little.
But that doesn't happen around here. 
people here do have very different life experiences, but they are not sharing them in an empathetic way.
"I was in the military so anyone who disagrees with me about the military is wrong and should shut up"
"I am a cop so anyone who disagrees with me about what cops do is wrong and should shut up."
The experiences that would add to the conversation are things that happened to your growing up, things that are happening to your kids, or what happened to you the last time you dealt with a politician or a doctor.  Those are the things that really make you ask the "why" of life, where better discussions start.
but it seems like around here people are only ever sharing their work experiences, and work is a bunch of "what." good workers rarely ask why, the folks signing the paychecks already asked why for them. the good workers just ask what and how. And that's all as it should be, but it's not a very interesting discussion for people outside of the field.

When was the last time someone changed your mind here?

We share our experiences with you all the time. We tell you, based on our experience, there are certain ways its done in law enforcement / military and you refuse to listen. These instances are almost never a matter up for interpretation but you insist on disputing it anyway.
