Your post is text book argument ad absurdum.  I didn't say tackling or hand to hand would solve everything for the cops.  I did say it would ha e solved this situation.  If you take any argument to absurd lengths, the argument becomes ridiculous.  Doesn't mean the original argument was ridiculous.

I'm not sure how many physical altercations you have been in, but when a person doesn't what to do something it is not easy to force them.  Once the officers get forced into a position of having to physically restrain a person, things are much more likely to go bad.  It is easy to sit back and arm chair QB but the person who had the most control to prevent the situation from going bad chose to fight the cops and go the his car to grab something.

There were like four officers on scene.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.
