Let's not pretend you know what should or shouldn't happen here--tactically speaking. If he had a knife, as was suggested by them yelling as much, then you don't holster your weapon. 

I admit that him having a knife changes things.  If he had one, maybe that's why he was able to get up when there were two officers on him.  That explains why there are two officers standing with guns drawn.  Still, you don't close in on someone with your pistol out, especially when backup has arrived. Knife or not.
