Fair enough. I was wrong. 

It still doesn’t change the fact that the dude was trying to attack him. The guy threw it at him and continued chasing him. Just because you’re willing to be attacked, it doesn’t take the right to defend yourself from a mob.

That's the issue.

Well, he was arrested, but what does their race have anything to do with what happened? One had a knife and was resisting arrest. The other was being attacked by a mob.
