There have been issues with a few reports of this happening and after further research they turned out to not be true. If his body fought it off and he didn't get symptoms, was he spreading it or was the virus dying. Basically the virus is dead and not multiplying, but it is still in the blood at a level high enough to be registered as a positive test. There have been no cases where someone recovered, tested negative, and then got it again other than that report. Since he wasn't being tested he could have had it still in his system.

Did you even read the article? For some reason my Kindle is not letting me copy the text, but under the tweet there is a paragraph that says the hospital sequenced his genome both times he tested positive and the virus was slightly different the second time meaning it changed from four months prior. It's similar to how the common cold and flu both mutate and get people sick every year.
