Minshew Not The Man

But a better QB would have had us in this game. Houston has a bad defense. That sack-fumble in the fourth that resulted in 7 points for them was terrible. Minshew missed a lot of plays today. We need better. He still has time to show us differently but, given the current information, we have to go in a different direction. Agreed. Minshew is short and not that mobile. That combination forces a QB to change the trajectory of their throws... meaning the arc of their throws is typically higher coming out of their hand to get over the arms of the D-linemen. This causes overthrows on short routes and underthrows on deep routes. There were several examples of this today, with the underthrow to Conley that should have been a walk-in TD being most noteworthy. If you are shorter, you better be real athletic or have great footwork in the pocket to create your own throwing lanes. He is not Drew Brees, who has always been a technician with his footwork in the pocket since college. Its a problem that I do not see Minshew getting past.
This is a results-oriented business. There are no trophies or titles given for "moral victories" or for "winning the draft". Our record with DC is 37-86. 6-10 is our 2nd best season in 8 years of Caldwell leadership. These are the FACTS.
