Lions @ Jags score predictions?
|
Jay had his press conference today and he was talking about the mistakes that the Jags made in the game against the Texans (and have been making in general). Jay has said ideally that the pass attempts for Gardner should be anywhere between between 25 to 30 attempts. Which is what some of us have been basically saying it should be. Other people may have said around 20-25 attempts, but some of us have said roughly around a similar benchmark. He also said that the team needs to be more balanced. He also regrets some of the calls he's made including that 4 and 1 call in the Texans game.
Jay continues to say stuff like this every week, but continues to make the same mistakes with the offense. Gardner continues to have high pass attempts, the team continues to abandon the run earlier than the should. There has been some heavy debate in the Minshew not the man thread about Jay's playcalling. Someone I think even questioned if he's sabotaging Doug Marrone. I don't know if I would go that far yet, but I might start wondering more about that if the Jaguars lose this game to the Lions and the offense isn't smoothly as it can run. I know that it puts pressure on the offense when the defense constantly gets the team behind, but I still feel like the offense could run smoother. They could be a smoothly, tighter running unit and if so that could help the Jags get more wins. Jay needs to put them in a position to perform to the best of their ability and outside of the first two games, this season hasn't really been doing that. Especially with him abandoning the run earlier than he should during the past few games. If the offense continues to do this in the game against the Lions and the team loses to them, I do think it will be time to start pointing a finger at Jay more. Especially if the defense actually plays better like they did against the Texans. And this is the third week in a row that the Jags will be taking on a team with the worst rush defense in the NFL: https://twitter.com/Ballou1010xl/status/...1428194305 Jay needs to stop making the same mistakes with this offense. |
