I thought they had a good vibe to them. Their practices/training camp seemed exciting and after they beat the Colts, people were optimistic they could be competitive this year. But they've really sunk since then. Week 2 they were still okay in spite of the loss. But after Week 3, it's just been one brutal loss after another. I do think that the team constantly getting down multiple scores (largely due to the defense) has helped squeeze the life out of this team.

And truth be told, I hold Gruden somewhat responsible as well. I feel like he's not running the offense as well as they could run. Granted it's not his fault that the defense keeps putting the team in a hole, but I feel like he's not maximizing the offensive talent on this team. If he had I believe this team would have more wins. Granted the offense can't carry this team to a ton of wins, on a deep run, but they are good enough to get the team more wins.

I think prior to this game, had the offense run better the Jags would have been 2-3 or maybe even 3-2. But Jay has kept making the same mistakes over and over again these past few weeks and saying he's going to change things but he hasn't done much of that. So now not only is the defense still bad, the offense has regressed. It's rough to watch.

Completely agree. I hate to be that guy defending Minshew again but hes thrown over 40 times in the 5 straight losses. We throw on 66% of plays, highest in the league. I get why, they are panicking but that's not our O.

Lions been giving up 170yds rushing a game and we had 41yds today! We seem to have one strategy and if that doesnt work we are stumped. The team look like they dont believe they can win, like you say the big deficits early in games is 'here we go again'.

And I dont see how we fix it this year.

And Jay keeps saying the same thing every week. That the team shouldn't be throwing so much and that he feels bad about abandoning the run. And yet it still keeps happening. I'm to the point to where I don't really trust Jay anymore either. He's not doing his best to help this offense succeed. He did in the first two games, but after that they have regressed, in spite of some continued and promising play from people like James Robinson.

I did see in another thread someone speculate if Jay was trying to sabotage the team. I'm not sure about that, but something isn't right here with the way he's been calling these games. Granted he could be finding himself constantly being concerned about the team going down multiple times. And that is why he keeps throwing the ball a lot, but he needs to stop resorting to that. And do what is more effective for this team in a game. Which the last few games should have been running the ball. Yet Jay really hasn't been doing that.

He needs to focus more on making sure the offense is effective as possible and believe it or not, not worry as much about the defense. That should be Todd/Doug's job. Jay needs to try and make the offense as smooth and effective as possible. If he had done that, I think this team has at least a couple of more wins. (The Texans game, and maybe another one). If Jay does a good job of maximizing the offense's talent, he could end up with another head coaching job sooner, than later. Maybe the Jags or someone else.

I wonder if he's already become tired of working for the Jags and isn't caring as much about what happens with this team. Something just doesn't seem right about his play calling these past few games.
