Proposed NCAA rule would slow down offenses

Being able to change personnel and snap the ball before the defense is ready isn't innovation it's taking advantage of the rules.

 

It's not fair that the offense can put in specialized players for a situation while the defensive guys are required to be a jack of all trades.

 

NCAA rules do not allow for the amount of practice and football study time required for the defensive players to act in the multi roles required to counter these substitutions. They coaches should be allowed to counter substitutions with players trained to defend those positions.

 

The offense already has the advantage of knowing the play. They shouldn't also have the advantage of creating personnel mismatches at will.
