The government is essentially taxing something that has already been taxed to death in the first place. The death tax is the biggest sham going in this country.

Yes, it does tax something that has already been taxed, in a way.  But in actuality, it's income to the person who inherits the estate, and that person (who did nothing to earn that wealth) has not been taxed.   Plus, a lot of people would argue that if there's no estate tax, we would probably wind up with a permanent upper class that looks like 19th century England.  So there are arguments in favor of an estate tax.

I would argue that if you eliminate the estate tax and establish a permanent upper class in this country, based on inheritance, you would cause the socialist revolution we would all like to avoid.
