Jungle Cat, what you seem to not realize yet is ACL tears do not shorten or ruin careers most of the time. Many players are not as good as they used to be the next season, but they are still very good and get their starting jobs back. I almost never read about a player retiring because he tore his ACL. And don't get me started on Robert Griffin - the Redskins failed him by not putting him on the PUP list in preseason. Sam Bradford and Jake Long are more likely to be like Tom Brady, who was injured in the opener, had surgery in October, and was fine when training camp started, than anyone who lost his job or retired because of an ACL tear.
