Earlier in the day it was learned that Hyde would not face criminal charges related to an alleged assault at a Columbus night club. Hyde had been accused of assaulting a woman in the club on the night of July 20.


Ohio State's first three games of the season include home games against Buffalo and San Diego State, as well as a road game against Cal. Should Hyde's suspension last longer than three games, Ohio State has a home game against Florida A&M before hosting Wisconsin in late September to open Big Ten play.

 

I am not saying we should disregard what he did that resulted in a three-game suspension. Of course that matters. I am just saying before that happened and later in the year, he was not a bad guy. Yes, it is something to be concerned about, but nobody should assume that automatically makes him a chronic troublemaker like some other guys. It just means the risk is there that he can be like them.

 

Ohio State's schedule last year has nothing to do with this topic. I am just talking about the player rankings by Mike Mayock.
