And if he's not traded, I believe he will walk after his contract. I don't think he will stay and be a backup in the Jacksonville when he could potentially have a chance as a better shot somewhere else as a potential starter. There could be an opportunity for him to start in different situations. Like a team who has a QB that retires, but is still competitive enough not to have a top QB pick.

Even something like being a bridge QB somewhere else would be better than him being glued to the bench in Jacksonville. And at worst case scenario he could be a backup on a better team. He'll still be young when his rookie deal is up and he is nowhere near as bad as a lot of Jags fans/medai are trying to make him out to be (largely because they want another QB like Trevor Lawrence or Justin.) He still could have a decent shot with another team.

More like Doug has never cared for him much IMO and is being petty on his way out. Gardner was originally sat for his injury and I think it made a big enough impact to affect his game. But we may never know that for sure since Doug has continued to sit him. Gardner was originally supposed to get this whole season as a starter. And his injury that is now healed shouldn't prevent him from playing the rest of these games. Especially since Mike hasn't won any of the ones he started, and I could make the argument that if Gardner were playing the team beats the Vikings today. I don't buy that Doug really think that Mike is that much better than Gardner or really better than him at all. But he wants to punish Gardner, even though the team won't be any better off with Mike (and possibly worse off) with him.

I'm tired of Doug for multiple reasons and his treatment towards Gardner who has played hard for this team and wants to be a Jag, is a big one. I hope that the team won't have to worry about Doug and his poor decision makings as a coach next season, regardless of what happens regarding the QB situation.

Good post. Completely agree. Maybe it wasnt all Coughlin with the bad attitude towards players. My problem is this is the same cycle as the last 3 years. Bortles benched for Kessler, bring in Foles whos benched for Minshew. Name Minshew starter, get rid of Foles ans now Minshew is benched. Yet Marrone and Wash are never responsible.

Its beyond a joke. I remember arguing with certain posters when we were getting rid of Bouye, Campbell and Yan and the majority were more than happy with those calls.

Im also so fed up with the tanking attitide EVERY year. It obviously doesn't work! Next year it has to change, everything in that building. The attitude, the expectations. Look at Gruden at Oakland. Had a bad roster and his first move was getting rid of Mack but they are turning the team around. Look at McDermott at Buffalo. We beat them in the playoffs in 2017, which team looks better?

I'm tired of the tanking attitude too and I wish that people like Doug and Todd had been held accountable more often. Doug, the Jags traded away multiple players including players we could really used this year. Granted I understand Yan didn't want to be here, but they got rid of players who gave their all to the team like Calais. And up until recently Calais has been having a good season with the Ravens. We could have used him this year, especially with our very young and developing defense.

Also, regarding tanking bad teams, I just mentioned the Browns in my last post. Look how far they've come and they were truly awful for years. Three years ago they were 0-16 and they've been through more QB's than the Jags have But they finally got it right with the coaching staff. Even though interestingly enough some people (including some of their fans) are still unsure about whether they've finally found the answer at QB in Baker. But they have fixed other important issues like getting a good coach, who has been able to really utilize the talent on their team and they fixed their offensive line. And it's paid dividends for them. Today's game was the best game I've seen Baker play. He was making really good, smart plays.

He was very patient and was making good choices with his throws and it showed. They are headed to the playoffs for the first time in almost two decades. The Jags could have something like that if we start by doing things like getting a good coaching staff. Not coaches who aren't held accountable, not able to really coach up the talent on the team and who blatantly get rid of/bench the best players on the team.
