1.  Did you watch the Jets/Raiders game or read the play-by-play?  It makes ZERO sense that the team would wait for 13 seconds left from the 46 yard line to tank when they had a much easier opportunity earlier.  Here's the scenario.  The Raiders are down by 4 points and have 1st and 10 from the Jets 16 yard line with only 2:06 left on the clock.  If the plan is to tank, why not tank there?  Why not let them score?  Why not at least let them get a first down?  They had FOUR opportunities!!! Under your theory, it's 1st and 10 at the 16, and the defensive coordinator's plan is to STOP the Raiders on 4 downs, hope the Jets offense doesn't make a first down, punt, and then and only then allow the Raiders to march the field with mere seconds left to squeak out the victory!?!?!  That makes absolutely no logical sense.  

2.  If Gregg Williams was told to tank, why was he fired the next day?  Why tank if he wasn't promised his job was secure?  An 0-16 coach isn't likely to return and it doesn't make it any easier to find his next job.

3.  If the plan is to tank, why did the Jets win this week?

I am dead serious. 

1. You realize the Jets are the only team since they been recording the actual stats to run a 8 man blitz in that exact situation? The only team in like 25 years ( likely more). That was by design. 

2. They had to fire Gregg for optics. I’m sure he got paid. 

3. They are incompetent, but let me also be clear. PLAYERS don’t tank. Coaches do. It happens all the time in the NBA, they sit their best players at the end of the year and put out weak talent to play. They position themselves to lose. Gregg Williams positioned them to lose, but I’m sure the CB on the play Lamar Jackson didn’t give up that play on purpose... he just was behind the 8 ball. I’m a big NBA fan, and maybe I’m just damaged by how that league works... but if you are a NBA fan like myself and believe teams don’t tank... I don’t know what reality you are in.

1.  You completely failed to address my point.  If the plan was to tank, why WAIT to that point to tank?  Again, watch the game or read the play-by-play!!!!  It's 1st and 10 from the 16 yard line with 2:07 left.  No tanking.  It's then 2nd and 6 from the 12 yard line with 2:00 minutes left.  No tanking.  It's then 3rd and 3 from the 9 yard line with 1:55 left.  No tanking.  It's then 4th and 3 from the 9 yard line with 1:42 left.  NO TANKING!!!  Why?  Why?  Why?  Why? Why? After the stop, it only takes one Jets first down and they win.  Even if the Jets go 3 and out, the Raiders still have to march all the way down the field with little time left.  If not, the Jets win. If you are being paid to lose, why in the world would you risk it!?!!?!  It makes ZERO sense to stop them on downs from the 16 with only 2:07 left in the game if you are trying to tank.

2.  Yet you have ZERO evidence to support this.

3.  You couldn't make an argument, so you change the subject.  The question isn't whether any team in the history of sports has ever tanked a game.  It's whether the Jets were tanking and you still have absolutely no evidence to support it.  You are claiming that Gregg Williams was paid to tank and was fired for optics.  If so, why have the Jets win the game after the next?  Why pay Gregg Williams and not the next guy?  In fact, if Williams is so willing to accept bribes and tank, why bother firing him!?!?!  Just ride it out.  They easily could have.  It makes ZERO sense to tank in the Raiders game and not tank in the Rams game.
