I can understand your argument.  I don't think he gets enough out of mid to late round picks, and has had some bad misses at DT most notably, and G as well.
Those mid to late round picks are critical.  They fill out your roster with role players and help to keep the costs down.  Not that the AFCS was like the late 90s early 90s NFC East, but he won the division more than once.

What tips the scales in his favor for me is that I think if you are going to hit, hit on the first round picks.

He has hit HUGE on first round picks.  If he gets guys like Deandre Hopkins, Deshaun Watson and JJ Watt, you can't get three bigger guys than that.
