Gonna go out on a limb and suggest that many of the original posters who were so quick to respond to this post wanted to use it as an example to justify their own beliefs, rather than anything productive. Over a million people were in DC and a handful was stupid enough to break into the Capitol. She is responsible for her own actions. She died tragically, because she made a bad decision. Trump didn't tell her to do it. She chose to do it. Now, we have a memorial thread dedicated, in her honor, to lambast Trump supporters. What makes this worse is that many of these same posters justified criminal behavior for MONTHS. It's crude at best. I didn't see conservatives creating fake memorials to emphasize their political positions. Correct me if I'm wrong.

OK. I saw the thread as a discussion about the tragic death of a rioter.
I didn't see it as a place to honor anyone or to lambaste anyone.
Just discussing what happened.

I'm not as in tune with what this poster or that poster has said in the past as I don't frequent the forum consistently and I've been swamped with work from August-December.

Hurricane's motives have no bearing on my posts.

You'll not find posts from me justifying criminal behavior of rioters from "leftist" protests etc.

It appears to me that you are referring to "they" and "them" as everyone that was at the Capitol building.  If I am mistaken about that I apologize.  I watched the events unfolding on live television and flipped between a few different news outlets to see the coverage.  By far the vast majority of the people there were peaceful and mostly standing around with patriotic flags/displays and such.  It was a VERY small minority that breached the Capitol building, caused damage and got into altercations with authorities.  I am certainly not "glossing over" the actions of those very few.  As I said before "They broke the law, caused destruction, etc. and should pay the price for it".

Contrast that to what happened last year when you had crowds of people physically attacking police officers, smashing windows, starting fires, etc. and the MSM called that a "mostly peaceful protest".

Here's a little experiment to try to explain my point a bit better to you.  Watch video of news feeds from say the riot in Kenosha from last year with the sound off.  Do the same thing with the protest at the Capitol.  Which one looks "mostly peaceful" to you and with one looks like a violent riot?

I'm referring to every protestor who crossed the line from peaceful protester to criminality. There were many. 69 arrests made and counting.

How does that percentage of violent vs peaceful protestors compare to some other demonstration, at some other time, about some other perceived injustice?  I don't care. Not my point here at all.

Didn't realize the point here had morphed into quantifying the percentage of bad apples at various protests.
And I'm certainly not going to take stab in the dark guesses about those numbers based on random video footage.

I think my "argument" with you got mixed in with what I see regarding news coverage and how these events are portrayed.  Information being put out in the media (both traditional and on social) calls this a "violent mob that attacked the Capitol" while those same outlets called the riots last year "mostly peaceful".  They are not even close to being the same and the opposite is true.

Meanwhile you have the association of flight attendants wanting Trump supporters banned on flights leaving the DC area.

The democrat party supposedly wants "unity" and "calm", yet they are pushing for the 25th Amendment to be invoked and are pushing for yet another impeachment against a President who has conceded and has less than two weeks left in his service.  I'm certainly sure that's going to unite the country!

Then you have the President-elect saying that the protesters/law-breakers were treated differently by police because of the color of their skin.  Yup, that will certainly unite rather than divide. /s

Finally, the very premise of this thread is to lay blame for Mrs. Babbitt's death on President Trump.  Your first post in this thread even implies that.

Quote:It’s a miracle that several more of the trespassing rioters were not shot.

Tragic that she needlessly lost her life due to being duped into believing baseless claims of election fraud and “taking action” at the behest of a despicable politician unable to take a loss like a man.

A lot of people don't believe that there was fraud and the election was stolen because President Trump said so.  Many people believe it based on what we saw and how unusual it was.  Many people were angry because it was never really investigated and pretty much appeared to be covered up.  She lost her life because she was angry enough at our federal government that she made the choice to break the law and take a risk.  She suffered the ultimate consequence for her choice.

There are 10 kinds of people in this world.  Those who understand binary and those who don't.
