The Sports Complex is much more suited to the evening/weekend crowd than the Landing was. You have a football stadium, an ampitheater, baseball stadium an arena and probably by the time this gets going a soccer stadium nearby too. That will provide a steady number of events throughout the year.

I've been to Ballpark Village in St. Louis and P&L in KC and they both are very busy at weekends with concerts, events and just generally for things like CFB Saturdays, NFL Sundays and various big events like US national team soccer games. I suspect Jax will be too, as we don't really have a defined central area of bars and restaurants. This will fill a big void. The Jags themselves will almost certainly push events heavily there as well such as road game watch parties, draft nights and training camp.

The tax payers are being taken advantage of, but its a tough position for the city. Our Downtown is incredibly stagnant and we have a billionaire offering to invest. We'd be mad to turn him away and also to lose our only professional sports team.

Hopefully they can get some decent tenants too.

I've honestly been pretty embarrassed to show visitors our Downtown in the past. Hopefully this is the start of a positive change.
