I gurantee if Andrew Luck was in his 4-5th year and we were in this same spot all of you would be all for it, even tho Watson has been better than luck through the first 4 years of his career.. I'd say Watson is top 10-5 QB in the league as of right now, but when considering long-term i'd put him ahead of guys like Rodgers/Brees/Brady etc because they obviously aren't going to be around for the next 10-15 years. And don't get me wrong, i'm excited for Lawrence, but i'm also not ignorant. If vegas was to put betting odds on Watson being an elite QB throughout the rest of his career vs Lawrence, the line would be quite lopsided. My point is, proven player vs unproven. And for anyone who thinks Lawrence is a sure fire pick, should really go look back at his tape. He has the physical tools, seems like a really good kid, and has fairly good decision making as far as you can tell based on an extremely simple offense. I'm not trying to be rude or start arguments, i'm just trying to point out that maybe some of the people on this board should look into him themself and stop listening to ESPN. I did that in 2017, and to me it seemed clear that Mahomes and Watson had real potential, and Trubiski looked like Bortles. Yet somehow the "experts" and even the Bears GM thought differently and we saw how that turned out. To me, Lawrence looks like a slightly less talented Justin Herbert (based on college alone) This is a forum, it's perfectly fine for everyone to have differing opinions, but if people are going to call me stupid for pointing out extremely obvious observations I guess i'll just keep my opinions to myself. |
