Gruden runs an offense designed for quick short passes. Your QB doesn't get hit much on quick routes and plays.

The problem was when the QB had to hold the ball for deeper plays to develop. That's when the QB got hit too much.

I agree with this line of thinking. Middle of the pack in hits allowed in a Gruden offense is quite bad.
