My daughter's boyfriend has a pit bull. I don't like pit bulls because they can be vicious and untrustworthy, in my opinion. The amount of muscle and strength this dog has is scary. However, she's a real sweetheart. I pity the person that ever poses the slightest threat to my daughter. It would be real ugly.

With that being said, I've refused the favor to watch her for a day or two while they go out of town. I don't want to clean up dog piles out of the yard and worry about her peeing in the house, which she does at home on occasion. Plus I don't want to leave her in the house alone if we step out. Raising a bunch of kids was enough. I'm retired from the caretaking business forever. Dog and kid visits are fine, as long as they leave.

Now get off my lawn.

I used to feel the same way about pits, until we found one out in the woods that we "rescued".  She's actually a pit/lab/something mix, but when we found her she was "all head" with skin and bones for a body.  I'm a dog lover and couldn't just leave her out there so we picked her up, took her to the vet to get her fixed up and "fixed" and decided to keep her.

She's very playful (still has some puppy as well as lab in her) but also very protective.  She will not let my wife out of her sight while we are on our property and will bark if someone comes over until we tell her that it's alright.
